This is from S. Junger's book "Fire"
"For some people, the one thing more terrifying than having something bad happen must have been to have nothing happen at all.
Modern society, of course, has perfected the art of having nothing happen at all. There is nothing particularly wrong with this except that for vast numbers of Americans, as life becomes staggeringly easy, it has become vaguely unfulfilling. Life in modern society is designed to eliminate as many unforeseen events as possible, and as inviting as that seems, it leaves us hopelessly underutilized."
Human nature : Cat's nature
I sit on my couch an look at my cats, Spazzle and Shadow. They sit by the fire, sleep on the couch (when I'm out of the room), and eat. WOW, what a good life, sleep, eat and relax, no worries. Sometimes I envy them, but then I think about it. Could I really laze around all day if I was a Cat? Or would I get up and tour the house, knock over plants, push jewelry over the counter so it drops behind the cabinet, spin the TP, torment my "owners"? Maybe Cat's Nature is not to far from my own, if I don't have something interesting to do I will come up with Something to do. I wonder if this is just me or are others like this, or is everyone is like this?
